Funding Opportunities
The ECRT aims to facilitate particularly early career scientists to form small teams to develop their ideas into research projects. The ECRT provides the Einstein Kickbox which offers seed money to carry out initial experiments to validate the novel research ideas, and collaboration support for their team work. The ECRT also offers research and consumable grants to further develop the concept projects into fully-fledged research.

Einstein Kickbox - Young Scientists
The Einstein Kickbox - Young Scientists provides € 6,000 seed money to develop an idea into a research project. Teams comprising Master’s students, doctoral or early career postdoctoral researchers are eligible to apply for this Kickbox and usually only need the approval of their supervisors to proceed. After developing their research project during this six-month Kickbox period, the teams are eligible to apply for an ECRT Consumable Grant.

Einstein Kickbox - Advanced Scientists
The Einstein Kickbox – Advanced Scientists provides € 12,000 seed money to develop an idea into a research project. This Einstein Kickbox requires the participation of at least one early career scientist and two senior scientists. The teams are encouraged to use the six-month Kickbox period to develop a research proposal in order to apply for further financial support from third party funding organisations such as DFG, BMBF.

ECRT Consumable Grant - Young Scientists
The ECRT Consumable Grant - Young Scientists will enable teams of young scientists to do their own independent small research projects that they have developed with the help of the Einstein Kickbox – Young Scientists during the six-month Kickbox programme. The ECRT Consumable Grant comprises € 12,000 for research consumables.

The ECRT Consumable Grant - Advanced Scientists will enable teams of at least one early career scientist an two senior scientists to advance their project towards publication. The ECRT Consumable Grant - Advanced comprises € 24,000 for research consumables.
